Monday was our first day with our third new nanny, Nanima. Mackenzie is already taking to her nicely and they play together all morning until Mackenzie's nap around 1pm. Kiersten stayed home the first day then on Tuesday took Finley to the Embassy for her first Spanish lesson of the New Year. Mackenzie and Nanima did just fine together home alone.

Kiersten is grateful for the extra help with the girls but is still trying to find time to do things she needs to do. Since Nanima is wrapped up with Mackenzie it gives Kiersten more time with Finley which is great but also to do more chores. Once Mackenzie is in school, Nanima will be more available to help with those too.

Thursday was a good day in that Kiersten didn't need to worry about making dinner because we attended the Embassy Chili Cook off. We brought our regular side dish of mac and cheese and swam in the 'big pool'. Mackenzie was in heaven.
Scott is being kept busy at work as usual but was able to leave early on Friday to have a lunch date with Kiersten and Finley at Honey, the same place Kiersten went with some member ladies a few weeks back. We spent the evening in, catching the latest Star Trek Discovery episode on Netflix.

Saturday was when the fun happened. Little known fact: there is a Zoo here in Asuncion. Yes, it has taken us 18 months to visit but visit we did! It's within the grounds of their botanical gardens and it has lots of open, green spaces and so many trees. It was close to 100 degrees when we went so we were very thankful for the shade from said trees and somewhat consistent breezes. We saw cougars, fat leopards and tigers, monkeys, birds and a huge hippopotamus. Mackenzie had a great time, despite acquiring scraped knees from a fall.

Sunday morning found Scott with a headache, encroaching on a migraine so he stayed in bed and the girls went to church. So thankful its now only two hours! We did the usual Sunday FaceTime with grandparents and all is well. We are also very thankful for modern technology.

Quirks of Paraguay:
- Helmets. There are a good amount of motorcyclists but the odd thing here is some people wear their helmet part way. How's that? They place it on their head like a hat instead of all the way down covering their head. Never seen that anywhere before. Or they carry it on their arm! That's gonna protect a lot in an accident!
- Some new vocabulary: ocabus - octapus; popcorn - popsicle; nothing - her new response to almost any question.

- She's officially wearing real underwear during the day! 2 weeks since her last accident.

The Finley Report:
- She finally slept through the night Sunday to Monday!! She'd been going longer all week, waking up about 20 minutes later each day until this morning. She didn't full on cry until 7am! Huzzah!
- She's getting really close to holding her head up all the time. She's so strong!
Doing great with the tummy time! - It might be too early to tell but she almost has her eye color: hazel. Just like Mom and Dad.
