- The giant birthday cake is gone! No, we didn't eat all of it. We gave more than half away to friends. Thank goodness.
- We flew a kite at the Costanera over the weekend. Both the girls we very intrigued as neither had really seen one up close.
- Mackenzie is still obsessed with her "Elsa" dress and luckily we've been able to convince her she still has her "powers" when she isn't wearing the dress so we can wash it.
Freezing the camera. - Finley is trying harder and harder to say more words. Like real words and not just different inflections of the same word. The other day we're pretty sure she said, "arroz" (rice).
- Mom and Dad have been taking turns teaching Mackenzie how to read thanks to some easy, beginner books from Grandma Jackson. Very slow going but she is thrilled with her new skills.
- Kiersten went on a walk with a friend on Sunday. With Paraguay in Phase 3 of opening, one new perk is to go on a walk with someone outside of your household. It was nice to chat with a friend in person in the fresh air.
Yes that is a homemade wagon. And she loves it. - Scott and Kiersten had lunch out! At a real restaurant! Restaurants have opened for limited seating this past week, another benefit of Phase 3. Children are not allowed to dine.
- And Father's Day was yesterday. We celebrated Scott with the traditional Father's Day primary song of 'Daddy's Homecoming', a steak and potatoes dinner and a peanut butter brownie cheesecake dessert.
That's the big new from the week. We've been missing out individual updates on the girls so let's get back to that.
The Mackenzie Update:
- School is coming to a close here. Well not really since the school year is February to December but since we are moving... eventually we decided June would be the last month. Not sure who's happier about it, Mackenzie or Kiersten. (Its Kiersten. Let's be honest.)
- Every day during quiet time she gets 30 minutes of iPad education time. We have an app that helps her identify letters with games and she's come a long way with it in a month. What would we do without technology?
- Mackenzie has discovered Kiersten's harmonica and played with it every day this week, including falling asleep with it during one Quiet Time.
- She's starting to turn her nose up at dinner as soon as she sees it. She'll sit down and see the food and immediately say, "Yuck. I don't like that." We have her try it and she almost always decides she does in fact like it.
- Turning 4 brought another change, increased time out time. Meaning she now has 4 minutes of time out if she is in time out. Before it was 3 minutes.
The Finley Report:
- Due to low supply of size three diapers, Finley moved into our surplus of size 4s this week. They are still a little large and hang low when full making her walking/running very comical.
- Her clothing size is a big jumble of 12-18m, 18-24m and 2T.
- She practices her jumping every day. She can almost get both feet off the ground at the same time. A big accomplishment.
- She'll be 20 months tomorrow! We still need to get her 18 month shots....
- She is getting more brave at the playground. She swings in a big kid swing which could be more of a supply thing since there aren't any baby swings at our park. But she really loves the slide as well.
She wet through her pants at the park and we didn't have extra... - Bath time! This girl loves bath time. When we announce bath time after dinner she runs to her room to undress then happily climbs naked up the stairs then runs to the tub. It's adorable. (And yes we have filmed this to embarrass her with later.)
- The name of bear-bear for the pacifier lives on! She gets her pacifier during sleep and we clip it to her clothes. She and Daddy created a game: she points to her shirt with a smile and he asks, "bear-bear?" She nods. "Noooo." in a funny voice and tickles her and she laughs. Over and over.
There's probably more updates on the girls that we are forgetting but these are the ones that stick out. As stated above, yes we are moving but no we don't have a set, definite date when. The best we can guesstimate is September which is 2 months after our originally scheduled departure which isn't too bad. This weekend marked 35 months in Paraguay and we are getting to the 'very done' phase. The only thing we are really looking forward to is cooler weather which is forecasted for this week. So far it's been a VERY warm winter. Until then!
