April showers...don't happen in Kuwait!

Hello again and welcome back for a monthly update of our family blog. April was another month. Yup. Not as exciting as March but here are some highlights worth mentioning:

  • We got vaccinated! Well our first shot at least. We have our second shot scheduled for this coming week.

  • We got our car!! The last piece of the moving puzzle has been restored. It's like being home... finally. The girls have a lot more freedom now. Not that we can really go anywhere but it's still nice.
  • We had an interesting Easter. Since our weekend is Friday-Saturday and Easter is Sunday we weren't sure when to celebrate. We did a joint egg hunt and brunch with friends and then a normal dinner. We also had a great time coloring eggs with the girls.

Opening their first clue for their first hunt.

    Funny Bunnies.

  • The girls discovered a new park with friends.

Covered from the sunshine but not the heat.

  • Finley "graduated" swimming lessons. No, not because she's a pro but because she just cries the whole time.
  • Kiersten has been baking. Cookies (snickerdoodle), muffins (zucchini and blueberry) and pies (see below). Just cuz.
    Classic Toll House Pie

    Chess Pie

  • Spring in Kuwait means 90+ degrees. The pool has been our friend. And indoor playing season has officially begun.
Or playing in a water bucket.

  • We planned and booked R&R. We'll be going back in May and staying for a good chunk of the Summer. Well Kiersten and the kids are that is. Scott is coming back in early June. Work..
  • We had a movie night with friends. We watched Cars and it was a big success. We hope to do it again when we're all back from vacation.
3 little bodies in the pile of pillows below.

  • We hosted another Trivia Night this time with 15 people! We had 5 teams of 3 and it was a hit. Most people were from Scott's office so I'm not sure if they were just being supportive or genuinely like trivia. Either way we hope to keep growing the numbers.
Mackenzie Update:
  • More reading. She's getting to the point where she'll look at words and ask, "what does that say?" So we'll encourage her to sound it out and most of the time she can figure it out.
    Arts and crafts with Mom.

  • Swim lessons are going swimmingly, pun intended. She is much more confident in the water, not that she ever had any fear. Next big hurdle, not plugging her nose.
So chalk drawing in the shade on a somewhat not hot morning.

  • She had a play date with our neighbor during their Spring Break and they played for hours uninterrupted. Not sure who enjoyed it more, Mackenzie or Mom.

The Finley Report:
  • Words! Some of our new favorites are "goggles" pronounced, "goggies" and "sorry" pronounced, "ha-ha". So it sounds like she's adding insult to injury when she apologizes. Silly little girl.

  • Finley drew on the wall by her bed. She is learning to clean her messes.

  • Getting more clingy. Great. Just in time for our family vacation.
    Growing!

Next time you hear from us we'll be back in the States and fully vaccinated! Hooray! Good things to come.
Playing with kinetic sand during virtual church.

Found her like this around 10pm one night.
Good night!
