We went to Utah!

Well hello again friends! Over the last week the girls went on vacation to Utah. It was a short but fun trip filled with trips down memory lane and visiting friends. Sorry if we missed you while we were there. As I said, it was a short trip and with 2 little kids we needed lots of rest time.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Walking around BYU campus and seeing all the changes. It doesn't seem like that long ago we were students there but of course it was almost 10 years ago.
    Rainbow at the MOA.

    The trees are so big!

Mackenzie and Cosmo chillin' at the BYU Store.

  • Visiting with Kiersten's mission companions and watching the girls make friends with their kids.
Heather Low Daybell, Kiersten's companion for 3 months.

  • Driving up to Park City to see that fun town and Kiersten's brother and his family.
Kiersten and her (middle) big brother.

    Cousin love. And ice cream.

  • Freshman Roommate Reunion! Five out of the six of us were able to get together which was super fun. Reminiscing, catching up and laughing like old times. We didn't think to get a picture on account of us having too much fun talking.
We met at Canyon Glen Park in Provo Canyon.
    Love the mountains!

  • Eating at our favorite Utah eateries like The Purple Turtle, In and Out, Zupas, Shirley's Bakery and becoming mega fans of Sodalicious.
    And discovered other local gems.

  • Going to the Soap Factory and making soap. Mackenzie really got into it.
Getting started. First pic your mold then scent and colors.

Next, pour in soap, scent and color then mix!

Finally, after it hardens, color if desired.
    Ta-da! Handmade, homemade soap!

  • Walking around Temple Square and seeing the changes and renovation happening to the Salt Lake Temple. And visiting Uncle Brenton at the same time.

Walking hand in hand with Uncle Brenton.

  • Kiersten's Grandma passed away in August 2019 and then Grandpa in November 2020. So we visited their headstone in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Then we drove up to their old house to see what's going on there. Happily it is still there, perhaps needing a little landscape love but still a beautiful home and property.

  • At night, Mom and Grandma caught up on Olympic coverage. Team USA!
  • So many car naps!
    Our first night in town.

Napping while playing. She tried so hard to stay awake!

  • We went to Thanksgiving Pointe to view the Butterflies. It was such a happy and beautiful experience.

We were in Utah over the Pioneer Day Weekend and because of the girl's early bedtime were able to enjoy watching several fireworks displays from the condo we stayed in in Provo. The weather was brutally hot and the last few days were very smoky/smoggy making us feel like we were back in Kuwait. But overall it was a pleasant, fun trip and we can't wait to go back! Until next time, Utah!
Bye-bye Utah!
