So let's recap the week, shall we?
- Kiersten and Finley are fully over their flu. Getting back to life as we know it.
- Mackenzie is loving having her baby sister home.
Twinning! Both shirts reference being "strong like Mom". Oh yeah! - We tried to do as many outdoor things as we could since we knew the weather would be trending hotter soon. We played with chalk, with water and went to the park. We also walked to and from school everyday.
Playing with chalk
Playing with water while the baby sleeps inside and Mommy reads. - Speaking of school, Mackenzie had her art exhibit on Friday. Her school showcases the children's art work from the previous month on the first Friday of the month and its one of our favorite days.
Pink cow on the bottom right of her is hers.
Not sure if hers is the elephant or lion to the left of her. - Scott was very busy this week with 7 VIP visitors from the US one of which was Ivanka Trump. She was here about 24 hours from Thursday to Friday.
He also got this super sweet birthday card from Mackenzie's school. - Friday night we joined Scott's co-workers for dinner at Galpon Criollo, a Brazilian steakhouse. Both girls went to bed before 7pm.
- Saturday morning we helped clean the church.
- Saturday night we attended Quiz Night and Kiersten was the Quiz Master! The questions were equally hard in all categories but fun was had by all and they asked her back for another Quiz Night so she must have done something right!
- Sunday was super busy. Early morning meetings, church, after church meetings, choir practice (2 hours!) and yes, more meetings. Day of rest, huh?

Mommy put the girls to bed but first, a joint bath. - And today it skipped Spring and went straight to Summer. The temp maxed out at 99 with relatively lower than normal summer humidity. It was also very windy and knocked the power out for the first time since February.
The Mackenzie Update:
- She has officially passed us in Spanish abilities. On our walk to school this morning she jumped in a leaf pile and a man said to her, "Hay bicho alli." As Kiersten was pulling up Google Translate Mackenzie turned to her and asked, "Mommy, why are there bugs in there?" Which was what he had told her.
She loves to pick up flowers on the way to and from school. - Saturday was also epic in that Mackenzie threw her first full blown tantrum and of course, we were out in public. She was screaming at the top of her lungs, crying and full-body flailing as Scott carried her from the store.
- We should also note that she is refusing naps hard core these days. She has gone 5 days in a row without napping which we highly suspect led to the tantrum on Saturday.
- We created a chore chart for her this week. If she gets 10 stickers in one category she gets a reward. She is very gung-ho.
Chores: Putting clothes away, putting dishes in the sink, cleaning up toys and making the bed.
Rewards: New toy/book, watch tv, outing with a parent, treat or paint nails. - Mackenzie surprised Mommy this week by performing several full form pushups with terrific form! She's been joining in on workouts since she was Finley's age so it was bound to rub off.
The Finley Report:
- She mastered clapping this weekend! She is so pleased with herself when she does it. Could also be that we smile and praise her incessantly when she does it. She's been working on this for many weeks.
- She loves chasing her sister around. Mackenzie will run from one end of the room to the other and Finley will take on the chase just in time for Mackenzie to turn and go the other way. They laugh and scream (happy screams) and play. It's the best.
Playing together under the table for 30 minutes.
That was our week. Thanks for reading.
