Anyhow. It's been a short week since returning from Utah but it's been busy. Did some grocery shopping and birthday prepping because Scott's birthday was Sunday, September 1 (yesterday)!
Friday began the long weekend and we spent it at home.

Saturday we intended to go for a drive and enjoy the cooler, overcast weather but the children had other plans. They kept taking naps at different times from each other so inside we stayed until the evening when we went to la Galleria for dinner at a terrific pizza place. Then of course we needed ice cream.

Sunday was the birthday celebration. We forgot it was Fast Sunday and had birthday waffles for breakfast. Went to church and had a great Sunday School lesson (we will miss our other class member who is moving at the end of the month) and came home for naps. Kiersten spent the next few hours in the kitchen making Scott's favorite Cheesecake Factory pasta dish and garlic knots and it was well worth the work. The best part of the meal was of course the cheesecake she made as his birthday cake. He opened presents which consisted of every imaginable type of Reece's, chocolate covered cinnamon bears from the BYU Store (gross), the new BYU game day shirt and 3 framed maps from an old book of Kiersten's grandpa. It was a very fun day and happy birthday to Scott!

This Labor Day we all slept in until 8! Miracle! After Mackenzie went to school and Nanima arrived, Scott and Kiersten drove to Yaguaron to go for a little hike. It was more like a rock scramble but it was a gorgeous day and really fun. It even had seven Guarani mythological statues which were... cultural. It was a fun outing and we made it back home safely to the children.

The Mackenzie Update:
- She's learning new expressions thanks to her bedtime stories. Her newest one, "Leave it to me."
- At least twice this week she's called different foods 'chipa'. We made some nachos and she called the chips 'chipa'. Then the garlic knots on Sunday were also classified as 'chipa'. She is so Paraguayan.
The Finley Report:
- It finally happened. The day we've been waiting MONTHS for. One of her top teeth cut through the gums! And the other is close behind. She's soon going to have 4 teeth!
- She has been loving solid foods for a few months but if it isn't completely pureed she won't eat it. We hope with more teeth she'll take the plunge and actually chew her food.
After a few crazy weeks we are happy to get back in the swing of normal life. We've got some more fun stuff going on this week but we won't be going anywhere, the fun is coming to us. We'll tell you all about it next week!
