We've just had a whirlwind of a weekend. Let me just say this is not a typical Jackson weekend! Like I said in my Ice Cream and Firetruck post from last week, it's either a normal, boring or fun weekend and this was DEFINITELY a fun weekend.
After our delightful night out in DC last night, this morning we ventured in the opposite direction to Front Royal for a canoe trip. Joining us were my parents and Scott's Dad and younger brother, Brenton. It was a beautiful day, overcast and comfortable. We were on the river for about 3 hours and went over a few "rapids" and saw some cows. It was pretty quite and relaxing until we came upon the hundreds of people on tubes being loud and drinking beer. We passed them as quickly as we could while they would joke, "Can we hang on your canoe and have you pull us?" Ha ha ha! No!
Right as we were coming in to the finish it POURED! The only time we really got wet was right then in the rain.
Later that evening we joined up with Scott's parents and Brenton for a night at Wolf Trap to hear a concert featuring songs from Aaron Copeland, John Williams and Gershwin. It was really fun. We sat out on the lawn and enjoyed the weather and the music and then it again began to rain a little. It wasn't until we made it back to the car that it really started raining. Little tender mercies of the Lord are everywhere if you look for them.
I'm grateful to be a part of two wonderful families that can have fun together and rely on the Lord for help. We really enjoying being so close to both of them.
That is so fun! Do your families hang out together often? Probably not a good idea to have cameras on a canoe but if anyone had one, pics??
